Thresholds

How the agent's speed presets and custom thresholds decide when it has enough campaign data to act.

Thresholds tell AI campaign management how much evidence to wait for before judging a campaign or variant.

Most users should not edit raw thresholds. Choose a speed preset instead:

PresetMinimum sends per variantBase sends per variantBest for
Careful150300Conservative decisions.
Balanced100250Recommended default.
Proactive50200Faster decisions on less data.

Higher numbers wait longer. Lower numbers let the agent act sooner, but with less evidence.

Where thresholds live

Workspace settings and campaign Options both include agent speed controls.

PlaceWhat it controls
Settings → Cold Email AgentDefault speed and volume thresholds campaigns start from.
Campaign → Options → Cold Email AgentCampaign-specific speed and thresholds.

Campaign Options expose more custom threshold fields than workspace defaults. If you need campaign-specific performance tuning, use the campaign's Options tab.

The simple version

Use Balanced unless you have a specific reason not to.

  • Choose Careful if you would rather wait longer than risk early decisions.
  • Choose Proactive if you want the agent to learn and act faster.
  • Choose Custom only when you understand what each number changes.

Custom threshold fields

When you choose Custom, you can edit the numbers directly.

Minimum Threshold

The fewest emails per variant before the agent can judge it.

If a variant has not reached this volume, the agent should wait rather than declare it a winner or loser.

Base Threshold

The volume where the agent treats the data as more reliable.

At or above this number, decisions are more confident. Below it, the agent is more cautious.

Healthy positive reply rate

The positive reply rate the campaign or variant needs to be treated as healthy.

This is an agent decision threshold, not a universal cold-email benchmark. Some hard audiences or direct-offer campaigns can perform below 1% and still be worth continuing.

Winner positive reply rate

The positive reply rate where a variant is treated as a clear winner.

Winner PRR is intentionally higher than Healthy PRR. It helps the agent decide when one variant is strong enough to favor over weaker versions.

Booked call target

The target share of positive replies that should become booked calls.

If positive replies are healthy but booked calls lag, the problem is usually after the reply: response speed, calendar flow, offer fit, or follow-up handling.

How thresholds affect actions

Thresholds do not act alone. For the agent to run or request an action, several things usually need to be true:

  1. AI campaign management is on.
  2. The specific action is set to Run automatically or Ask first.
  3. The campaign has enough data.
  4. The campaign's performance triggers a decision.
  5. Any approval, credit, capacity, and lead-source checks pass.

If an action is set to Ask first, thresholds can trigger an Agent Approval instead of an automatic change.

When to change thresholds

Change thresholds when:

  • you have several campaigns showing the defaults are too slow or too aggressive
  • your audience needs more volume before results stabilize
  • your campaign volume is too small for the default base threshold
  • the agent's decisions consistently do not match what you would decide manually

Do not lower thresholds just because a new campaign has no insight yet. New campaigns need time and send volume before the agent can make useful calls.

If something's not right

The agent waits too long

Use Proactive or lower the custom thresholds. For small campaigns, also consider running fewer variants so each variant reaches useful volume faster.

The agent acts too quickly

Use Careful or raise the custom thresholds.

Every campaign looks underperforming

Healthy PRR may be too strict for the audience or campaign method. Compare against real campaign history before raising or lowering it.

The agent never flags anything

Healthy PRR may be too low, the action may be Off, or the campaign may not have enough data yet.
