While not technically required to send emails, having a live website is strongly recommended for successful cold email campaigns.

Why You Need a Website

When you send cold emails, prospects will look up your domain. Here's what happens:

  1. They receive your email from john@yourdomain.com
  2. They type yourdomain.com into their browser to check if you're legitimate
  3. If they see a blank page or error, they'll likely mark your email as spam

Impact on Your Campaign

What prospects findWhat happens
Professional websiteBuilds trust, improves reply rates
Blank page or errorDestroys credibility, emails marked as spam
Domain doesn't existEmail providers may block your messages entirely

Minimum Website Requirements

You don't need a complex site. A simple landing page works if it includes:

  • Your business name and logo
  • Clear description of what you do
  • Contact information
  • Professional design (use templates from WordPress, Carrd, or similar)

Setting Up Domain Forwarding

If you're using Acquisity-purchased domains for sending emails, you can set up domain forwarding:

  1. In the left sidebar, click Cold Email Agent (under Marketing)
  2. Click Email Accounts at the top of the page
  3. Click the Domain Forwarding button above the accounts table
  4. Select the domains you want to forward
  5. Enter your main website URL (like yourbusiness.com)
  6. Click Update

This redirects anyone who visits your sending domain to your main business website.

Email Provider Considerations

Email providers (Gmail, Outlook) check sender domains for legitimacy. They look for:

  • Active website content
  • Matching domain in email address and website
  • Professional appearance
  • Contact information

Without these signals, your emails are more likely to land in spam folders, even with perfect technical setup (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
