Does the AI SDR update CRM deal stages automatically?

Whether the AI SDR update CRM deal stages automatically, plus what to do next.

The AI SDR and the CRM are connected, but the sync is not a full sales-pipeline autopilot.

Here's what happens automatically and what you still do yourself.

What stays manual

The AI SDR should not be treated as the owner of your live pipeline stages. So:

  • Review new AI-created deals and move them to the correct stage if needed.
  • Closed Won / Closed Lost is always a manual move — the AI doesn't have access to your internal decision on whether a deal closed.
  • After the sales conversation starts, keep stage changes manual so the pipeline reflects your real sales opinion.

Why it's set up this way

Deal stages encode a sales opinion the AI can't reliably make: whether a call went well, whether a proposal's been sent, whether the deal is actually dead vs. quiet. Auto-moving deals on email signals would create a noisy pipeline that doesn't match reality. The reliable working pattern is:

  • AI SDR handles the first replies and booking.
  • You move the deal once you've taken the call or closed the loop.
