Personalization

How the Cold Email Agent personalizes each email for the recipient.

Every email the Cold Email Agent sends can be customized for the person receiving it. The AI writes the campaign sequence from your method, niche, offer, and lead context, then personalization variables fill in recipient-specific fields like name, company, role, location, and sender details at send time.

All 16 Personalization Variables

Before and After: How Variables Work

Here is a template with variables, and what the recipient actually sees:

Template (what you write):

Hi {{firstName}},

I came across {{companyName}} while researching leaders in the {{industry}}
space. With {{employeeCount}} people on your team, I imagine scaling
outbound is a real challenge.

I'd love to chat about how we helped a similar company in {{city}} grow
their pipeline by 3x.

Best,
{{sendingAccountFirstName}}

What the recipient sees:

Hi Sarah,

I came across Acme Corp while researching leaders in the B2B SaaS space.
With 150 people on your team, I imagine scaling outbound is a real
challenge.

I'd love to chat about how we helped a similar company in Austin grow
their pipeline by 3x.

Best,
Mike

Inserting Variables in the Sequence Editor

When you are editing an email sequence inside a campaign, you can insert variables using the built-in tool.

Open the sequence editor

Navigate to your campaign and open the email sequence you want to edit.

Click the Variables button

Look for the Variables button (it has a braces icon { }) in the editor toolbar. Click it to open a popover.

Browse variables by category

The popover lists all 16 variables grouped into categories (Contact, Company, Location, Social, Sender). Each variable shows its name and a brief description.

Click a variable to insert it

Click any variable in the list. The system inserts {{variableName}} at your cursor position in the email body. For example, clicking "firstName" inserts {{firstName}}.

Previewing Your Email

Before sending, you can preview how the email will look with sample data filled in.

Open the preview dialog

Click the Preview button in the sequence editor. A dialog opens with two panels side by side.

Fill in sample values (left panel)

The left panel shows input fields for each variable used in your email. Type in sample values - for example, type "Sarah" for {{firstName}} and "Acme Corp" for {{companyName}}.

See the rendered email (right panel)

The right panel shows your email with all variables replaced by your sample values. This is exactly what the recipient will see.

Check for unknown variables

If you typed a variable name that does not match any of the 16 supported variables, the preview shows a yellow warning banner and highlights unresolved variables. It also suggests the closest match - for example, if you typed {{firstname}}, it suggests {{firstName}}.

What Gets Personalized Beyond Variables

Variables handle the exact data insertion. The AI can also shape the sequence around the campaign context you provide:

ElementHow it is personalized
Opening angleThe AI writes the campaign around the method you choose, such as Podcast, Interview, AI Business Audit, or Direct.
Company referencesUse variables like {{companyName}}, {{industry}}, and {{companyDescription}} so company context resolves per recipient.
Role-specific languageLead fields like {{jobTitle}} let the copy speak to the person's role without inventing new data.
Industry contextCampaign niche and lead filters help the sequence stay relevant to the market you are targeting.

Tips for Better Personalization

  • Enter a clear niche, then refine the list. "Software" or "B2B SaaS" is a fine starting point. Use filters, keywords, and exclusions to narrow the lead search from there.
  • Use the right email method. The Podcast and Interview methods naturally create more personal emails because they reference the prospect's expertise.
  • Always preview before sending. Use the preview dialog to catch typos in variable names and see how the email reads with real data.
  • Do not overuse variables. An email with {{firstName}} in every paragraph feels robotic. Use 2-4 variables per email for a natural feel.
