HIRING PORTAL · FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I pick the right specialist for my project?
Steps to pick the right specialist for my project.
The Hiring Portal is a directory, not a matching engine. There's no scoring or automated fit check — you pick who to talk to based on profile signal, then use a discovery call to decide. Aim for 2–3 shortlisted specialists before booking any calls.
Shortlisting criteria
Work through each profile card in this order. Skip anyone who fails an early check.
| Signal | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Skill match | The card lists specialties. Skip anyone missing the core skill you need (e.g. don't interview "ads" specialists for a lead-gen project). |
| Work examples | Some profiles link to sample work or case studies. Real outputs beat self-described skill lists. |
| Relevant industry | If they've worked in your niche before, they'll understand the customer vocabulary faster. |
| Availability | Check their booking page — fully booked for 4 weeks may not work for a time-sensitive project. |
On the discovery call
Use the call to check two things the profile can't show:
- Do they actually get the problem? Describe your project in 2 sentences. A good fit asks clarifying questions. A weak fit jumps straight to pricing.
- Can they deliver? Ask for a specific piece of similar work they've shipped. Vague "I've done lots" answers are a red flag.
After the call
The Hiring Portal doesn't handle contracts, payments, or ongoing project management. Once you've picked someone:
- Agree scope, timeline, and payment directly with them (email or their contract tool of choice).
- Pay them directly — the platform doesn't escrow or process payments.
- See the subcontractor contract FAQ for what to cover.
Don't outsource judgement to the portal
Profiles are self-written. The most confident profile isn't always the best hire. Give weight to the discovery call over the profile card.
